Biography
An educator by profession, David Muhammad spent eleven years teaching secondary social studies in the Shawnee Mission School District and one year as the founding Enrichment Teacher at Kansas City Girls Preparatory Academy. Recently he was the Dean of Students at Pembroke Hill Middle School and will be the Dean of Students for the Barstow School this upcoming year. In 2017, he received the Crescent Peace Society’s education award, has partnered with the prestigious RACE Project KC initiative, and spent time at LEANLAB Education as their manager of collaborative partnerships.
Not to be limited to the classroom, he’s also released several hip hop albums since 2016. As a lifetime martial artist, he currently operates the Integrity Martial Arts Academy alongside his father. With over 30 years of experience, David is currently a 6th degree black belt and has been a member of both the US Karate and Kickboxing teams.
David graduated from Emporia State University in 2008, with a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and in 2012 he received his Master’s Degree in Education from Baker University. He is also an alumni of the prestigious Surge Academy. He is happily married to nationally acclaimed poet Aisha Sharif and they have two beautiful daughters.
