Two athletes and coach/referee come together to share their Black experience within Karate and life from the American perspective. James Payne has been studying martial arts for 20 years and has competed internationally in Europe and South America. He is also a member of AAU and USA Karate team. Cheryl Murphy has represented USA Karate for over 15 years, winning multiple national, Pan American, European and world titles. Brian Hobson, founded Brian Hobson Karate Studio in 1999. Was on the first Jr National Karate team and member for 10 years. He was National Champion in Kata, Kumite and Kobudo (weapons) 20 times.
The moderator, David Abdullah Muhammad has 30 years in the Martial Arts and operates Integrity Martial Arts in Kansas, City MO. An avid contributor to his community with partnerships like Race Project KC initiative and LEANLAB education. We are here to amplify the voices of those who often go unheard.
